Beric Henderson's painting "Remembering Utopia" (2023) (90x60cm, acrylic on canvas) was a finalist for the Lethbridge Landscape Prize to be shown at Lethbridge Gallery, Paddington in Brisbane, QLD.
About the Artwork: “Remembering Utopia” explores how fading memory shifts our perception of landscape and our utopian ideals. Here the artist reworked a decade old painting of an idealized coastline to show the shifting sands of our recollection. Nothing is static. Everything changes, transforms and is in some way connected.
The show runs from 6th to 23rd May, 2023.

That article about Remembering Utopia being shortlisted in the Lethbridge Landscape Prize 2023 was such a thoughtful read it’s inspiring to see how the artist captures place and change. While reading, I couldn’t help but think about how helpful it would be to take my online course with that same kind of creative intention and willingness to engage with new ideas.
